The History…
Stroud Yoga Space was created in 2012 by Rachel Mellish who has lived and taught in the area for over 20 years
After many years of holding classes in cold and badly lit village halls, the opportunity opened a way to create a yoga studio in the heart of Stroud
There were many yoga teachers in the Stroud area with no dedicated teaching space, so it didn’t take long to fill the studio with a community of authentic and brilliant teachers
The building used to be a pet shop and it took a lot of creative re-designing and building work done by Rachel’s husband William and a host of other friends and local tradespeople to create the beautiful yoga studio that it is now
Later in 2016 the neighbouring building came up for sale so we purchased it, knocked through and created a cloakroom and the Yoga Shop
Using the studios…
- Studios are comfortable, warm and well ventilated
- We provide equipment such as mats, blocks, cushions and bolsters, but we encourage bringing your own mat if you prefer
- A few of our teachers may live stream their classes alongside teaching live, which will mean there will be a camera and laptop in the room but only focused on the teacher…not on you!
The whole studio is thoroughly cleaned twice a week and in between we keep it as clean and hygienic as possible. We ask you to respect this and do your bit to help keep it clean too
If you use one of our mats then use the spray provided after use and store the equipment back in it’s correct place. Please take home all your belongings and rubbish, any left property will be put into the ‘forgotten items’ basket in the cloakroom for a couple of weeks, after which time we will donate it to charity
